ARCS examines opportunities to maximize the community benefit of all investment made in the Aldine area.
Over the past 20 years, there have been many studies conducted for the Aldine region that have assessed several potential opportunities for new and improved roadways, stormwater drainage, bicycle and pedestrian connections, public transit, parks and recreation centers, affordable housing, and public services.
Some of these proposed projects have been implemented, some have become obsolete, and some are still waiting to be started years later. To make the best use of the investment in the area, we need to consolidate these recommendations into a single list, deconflict them, and identify where the gaps are or where additional projects are needed. We will identify gaps through a combination of public input and area analysis.
The final goal of the study is to present a prioritized list of projects, policies, and programs that are ready to be implemented, but we cannot do this without your help.
Throughout the process, we will be meeting with elected officials, local stakeholders, advocacy groups, and area residents. We will host several rounds of public outreach, which will include a series of public meetings for Aldine residents, tenants, businesses, and community groups and leaders to weigh in and influence County decisions that will impact this community’s quality of life for many years to come.
We want to know which proposed projects are important to YOU. What do you like or dislike about the proposed projects? Are there projects that have not been addressed, are no longer relevant, or should be changed?

Although this study is being led by Harris County, recommendations will also be included for parts of the study area that are within the City of Houston and labeled as partnership opportunities between the County and the City.
There are multiple phases for this study, each with a different focus that builds toward creating the prioritized list of projects. The public will have opportunities to share their thoughts with us throughout the process. Here is what the public meetings will focus on.
