Public Input Round 2: Prioritizing Projects

Which projects did you rank highest?

In June, we asked you to rank your top 20 projects from a list of top 40 best scoring projects. We listened to you and here’s what we heard!

What will be considered when selecting the top 20 projects?

In addition to the public input we received from the survey and in-person events, we are also looking at several other factors, like how many people each project benefits, whether it has the potential to include critical infrastructure like water and sewer service and lighting, and it’s original metric score.

Click on any of the bubbles below to see how the projects are ranking based on each of these considerations:

We will also look at things that impact how easy it is to implement each project, like how much it will cost, how long it will take to build, where it is located, who could help implement it, and how easy it will be to fund. Projects that are harder to implement are not any less important or any less urgent, but they may take more time and planning to get them built, so it’s important to understand these considerations early in the process.

Next Steps

Now, the team is working to get to a prioritized list of 20 implementable projects. We will go through them, identify the project scope, and ensure that each is the best project it can be for the Aldine region. That means going through and making sure these projects include critical infrastructure like sewer and water, street lights, fire hydrants, and flood mitigation wherever possible.

We will then develop cost estimates, identify timing, identify potential partnership opportunities, and identify potential funding sources, and come back to you to present the Top 20 projects for Harris County and partners to implement in Aldine!
